Two public informational meetings were held on December 8 and 9, 2004 in Sugar Grove and Morris. More than 120 people participated in the meetings and talked with study representatives about the status of the Prairie Parkway study. The meetings were held in an open house format with a question and answer session.
Meeting participants reviewed the main ideas for resolvimg study area transportation system needs received during the June workshops and in discussions with local officals and stakeholders. The study team took the 150 plus suggestions and consolidated them into a workable number of corridors for analysis, including arterials, freeways, transit and transportation system management concepts.
In addition, participants were presented with a brief overview of the National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), environmental review process and the scoping process for the project. Also presented was the Purpose and Need for the study, which will be presented to federal and state resource and environmental agencies.
